Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 19, 2026
Kindred ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
1. Information we collect
Account information. When you sign up as a parent or gifter, we collect your name, email address, and password (encrypted).
Kid profile information. Parents who create kid profiles provide the kid's name, photo, bio, occasions, wishlist items, contribution links, and experience goals. Parents control what is shared.
Shipping information. Parents may provide a shipping address. This address is only visible to gifters who explicitly indicate they want to send a physical gift.
Gift information. When a gifter sends a gift, we record the giver's name, email, the gift amount or item, and an optional message. This information is shown to the parent.
Usage information. We collect anonymous analytics about how the service is used — pages visited, buttons clicked, features used — to improve the product. We use PostHog for this. No personally identifying behavior is sold or shared with third parties.
Cookies. We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and to track anonymous usage analytics.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Operate the Kindred service (create profiles, log gifts, send confirmation emails)
- Send transactional emails (gift confirmations, thank-you reminders, occasion reminders)
- Improve the product (anonymous analytics)
- Respond to your support requests
We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
3. Payments
Kindred does not process payments directly. When you contribute to a group goal or send money toward a 529 or other account, you are redirected to a third-party payment service (Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, or a 529 plan administrator). These services have their own privacy policies. We only record that you pledged a contribution — we do not see your payment details, card numbers, or bank information.
4. Children's privacy
Kindred is designed to be used by adults on behalf of children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Parent accounts manage all kid profiles, and parents are responsible for the content posted to those profiles.
5. Data storage and security
Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure. We use industry-standard security practices including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and row-level security on the database. No system is perfectly secure — if a breach occurs, we will notify affected users promptly.
6. Your rights
You can:
- Access your data — visit your profile to see what we have
- Update your data — edit your profile, kid profiles, or shipping info anytime
- Delete your account — email support@kindredregistry.com and we'll delete your account and all associated data within 30 days
- Export your data — email us and we'll send you a copy of your data
If you are located in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA. Contact us to exercise these rights.
7. Third-party services we use
- Supabase — Database and authentication
- PostHog — Anonymous product analytics
- Email provider — Transactional emails (signup confirmations, gift notifications)
- Lovable — Application hosting
Each of these services has its own privacy policy.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify users via email. Continued use of Kindred after changes constitutes acceptance.
